Assistance Available to Families
Recognition of Special Needs
A procedure whereby members can apply to be formally recognised by Defence, as having a family with special needs in order to apply for any of the special needs assistance measures outlined in DI(G) PERS 42-5
The application process includes:

Providing the necessary supporting documention and completing the application form, Form AC 832 - Application for Recognition of Member with Family with Special Needs with Special Needs;

Interview and assessment conducted by DCO staff;

Application is forwarded to the Approving Authority for consideration.
