About the DSNSG
National Committee
Margaret Fisk OAM
Founder and National Coordinator/Secretary since 1994. Margaret’s involvement with the DSNSG began in the late 1993 when she formed the group due to the experiences her family had when trying to obtain services for their son who has severe disabilities. Margaret has received several awards for her work with people with disabilities including being awarded a Medal in the Order of Australia and the Carer Innovation Award from the Carers Association of Australia. More recently she was awarded a Centenary Medal from the Federal Government.
Carol Hardstaff
Carol has been involved with the DSNSG since 1996. She has held the positions of Secretary and Assistant Coordinator for the Melbourne West Group and currently s the Coordinator for Tasmania. Carol has also been involved in various national projects and has been involved at a national level for some time ass a Special Projects Officer. Carol has received many awards for her work as a volunteer assisting the Defence Community and for her involved in the DSNSG. Carol has three children with various special needs.
Melanie Graham
Melanie has been involved with the DSNSG for some time. She has previously been the Coordinator for the Albury/Wodonga area and is currently the Coordinator for Brisbane and Canungra. Melanie has also worked with the National Committee as a Project Officer.
Karen Dobbin
Karen has held the position of National Treasurer since 1997. Karen has two children with special needs, one with severe autism. She has been involved in several disability and special needs organisations and has held various Committee positions. Karen has also been the local Coordinator for the Defence Special Needs Support Group (Melbourne West).
Debbie Curtis
Debbie has been involved in with the DSNSG over a number of years as a family member and in the past has held the position of Local Coordinator for the Richmond area.
